WONDER 12

PACKRAFTING, UT

(Transformational Leaders Program)

May 19-25, 2024

Recap

On this trip, undergraduate students in the Transformational Leaders Program at the University of Notre Dame learned to navigate rivers using packrafts. They spent most of their time paddling through Utah’s stunning Labyrinth Canyon, with two days dedicated to canyoneering in Moab’s striking canyons. Each evening, they camped under the stars, sharing thoughtful discussions about their collective experiences.

Participants’ Key Takeaways

  • I know now that I can push myself through moments and activities I consider super difficult

  • I got to bond with people I would never thought I could talk to

  • I got to challenge myself, be removed from all anxiety of academics, internships, fears and just leave in the present. Honestly, I had the most meaningful experience of my life

  • Being able to experience nature in a unique and special way; facing my fears of failure and showing myself that I am able to rock climb and canyoneer

  • I discovered my passion for the outdoors and nature

  • Wonder leadership was amazing and it helped connect with nature God, and understand myself better

  • The reflection session was held great. Having the students sharing their insights was great. It allowed us to be “human beings" than "human doings”.
