
WONDER Leadership Program (WLP)
Do you love exploring the outdoors? Would you like to inspire openness, curiosity, and friendship through hands-on learning?
WONDER is an experiential learning program that offers adventure in beautiful natural settings, incorporating a journey of reflection and growth for the participants, an experience facilitating a deeper connection with God and God's creation.
WONDER LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
The WLP is a twofold program:
1. The Spring CLASS - WONDER Leadership Program
In the class students will:
Learn a method on how to discover the beauty inside and around them, a space for students to be themselves, develop skills, and grow in the community by sharing their experiences.
The 1 academic credit class
Schedule
6 hour classes and an outdoor day trip (Exact dates TBD)
1 Leader week (Exact dates TBD)
2 days of Wilderness First Aid Certification (Exact dates TBD)
2. The INTERNSHIP
Interns in the Wonder Leadership Program will lead WONDER groups in Summer. The interns will receive a stipend and expenses reimbursement.
Application for the INTERNSHIP:
The WONDER team is seeking for 8 adventurous, enthusiastic, and highly skilled undergraduate students who are in love with the Creation and have a passion for sharing adventure outdoor trips with others.
Experience Planning & Guiding:
Supported by the Wonder team, plan and lead WONDER trips, including trip preparation, execution, and follow-up, while keeping participants safe, engaged, and having fun.
Actively live out a sense of wonder and a culture of encounter and openness by forming authentic friendships with people in your everyday life
Facilitate the experience of wonder for all students, regardless of ability level and background
Helping the technical instructors to facilitate backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing, and other adventure programming
Promoting experiential learning through dialogue and sharing
Outreach:
Identify and connect with potential trip participants (students, faculty, institutes) to form new relationships and grow the impact of Wonder
Required Qualifications:
A profound desire to encounter beauty in Creation
Desire to serve the others
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in a team and independently as demonstrated by previous work or internship experience.
Problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities.
Good writing and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with a diverse client base from various cultures, languages, and backgrounds
